Gülsün is an Istanbul-based visual artist whose practice is rooted in attentive observation and poetic introspection. After graduating from Boğaziçi University with a degree in industrial engineering, she spent over two decades as a senior executive in finance and banking before gradually turning toward the visual arts—a transition that mirrors her deepening engagement with the textures of memory, place, and presence.
Her journey into traditional techniques led her to study briefly at Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, where she explored the rich heritage of Turkish art.
Çini (ceramic tile art) left a lasting impression, shaping her sensitivity to rhythm, pattern, and color —qualities that quietly echo throughout her compositions.
Working across soft pastel, acrylic, and oil, Gülsün creates intimate scenes that draw from Istanbul’s layered geography, the quiet dignity of everyday objects, and the subtle poetics of stillness. Her paintings are meditations on presence: light diffused across water, the hush of a gaze, the emotional weight of a simple arrangement. Each work invites the viewer into a hushed dialogue—between the seen and the felt, the remembered and the imagined.
Her soft pastel technique was honed under the mentorship of Javad Soleimanpour, and she currently continues her acrylic painting practice at Sait Günel’s studio.
